Written by OSAblog on Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Threat of different malware waiting for a chance to infect your computer is ever increasing. These harmful bugs are spyware, adware and viruses. You cannot safely connect to the Internet without an appropriate computer security software. If you connect without protection, you will notice soon that your computer’s performance has reduced. This can happen for example, when the register files of Windows are infected. So you need a program, which is able to remove spyware, adware and viruses from your computer.

The Internet provides a conduit by which spyware, adware and viruses can move from host to host. Email, email attachments, peer-to-peer file sharing, instant messaging, and software downloads are the ways computers usually are infected. Today spyware and viruses can attack through multiple entry points, spread without human intervention and take full advantage of vulnerabilities within a system or program. Technology is advancing everyday and the convergence of computers with other mobile devices, so the potential of new types of threats also increase.

Fortunately, the progression of antispyware and -virus software industry has kept pace with current threats. The spyware and virus remover programs that these companies develop are  essential, when we like to maintain performance of a computer. The Internet security programs are designed to protect against spyware and viruses, which can enter a computer through email, web browsers, file servers and desktops.  In addition, these programs offer a centralized control feature and automation handling deployment, configuration and updating.

There are a few simple steps a computer user should follow in order to protect pc against the threat of spyware and viruses:

1. New generation of viruses are able to attack in a multitude of ways, so approach of having just only one antivirus software has become outdated.  You need to be sure that you have protected your computer system from the desktop to the network, and from the gateway to the server. Consider a more comprehensive Internet security program which includes several features including antivirus, firewall, content filtering, and intrusion detection.  This type of pc protection will make it more difficult for spyware and viruses to access your system.

2. Due to the fact that new spyware and viruses appear daily, it is important that you enable automatic updating of detection rules of your Internet security software. Familiarize yourself with the software’sreal-time scan feature and configure it to start automatically each time you boot your computer.  This will protect your system by automatically checking your computer each time it is started up.

3. Always scan all new programs or files no matter where from they originate.

4. Be cautious when opening binary, Word or Excel documents from unknown sources especially, if they were received during an online chat or as an attachment to an email.

5. Carry out regular backups in case your system is corrupted.  It may be the only way to recover your computer, when its performance has reduced radically or does not work at all in normal mode.

There are many spyware and adware removal programs available. It is advisable to do your own research, after which you can choose the program commensurating with your needs.
