Avoid Antispy 2008 and Save Yourself Some Trouble
Finding a reliable antispyware program can be tough. There are plenty of free programs out there but they usually don’t offer complete protection from spyware. Then there are programs that you have to pay for. They usually offer much better protection and customer service, but you have to be careful. There are programs like Antispy 2008 that will take your money and offer you no protection.
Antispy 2008 is a rogue antispyware program. That means that it is a malicious program that is disguised as a legitimate antispyware application. It uses deceptive tactics in order to lure people in and then continues to lie to them in order to scare them. Once it has terrified them, they are told that they have to buy the full version of the program in order to become free of the malicious software on their computer.
The scare tactics begin once the rogue has infected a user’s computer, which is usually accomplished through a Trojan horse. Security warnings begin to pop-up and tell the user that there are spyware infections on their computer and that they should allow a scan to be performed.
If the scan is permitted, then several infections will be made up and presented to the user. The user will be told that they only have the trial version and need to register the program in order to remove the threats. Now, trial versions are a common practice for legitimate security applications, but they don’t make up infections. Also, when you register a legitimate security application, you actually get protection. This isn’t the case with rogue applications.
Instead of offering protection, this rogue will only give you trouble. It will lower your security settings in your browser, slow your Internet connection, generate popups, and diminish your computer’s performance. On top of that, it may also download other malicious programs without your knowledge. What may be the worst thing of all is if you paid for the program then your credit card information is in the hands of criminals.
If you want protection from Antispy 2008 or if you need to have it removed, then you should find yourself a genuine antispyware application that can be trusted. It should be created by a company that is trustworthy and it should also guarantee 100% removal of spyware. You don’t want a program that only offers partial protection. Your computer’s safety is important so take the time to do the research and don’t be afraid to spend a little money.
