AVSystemCare – Looks Legit, But Is It?
AVSystemCare is a rogue security program designed to look like a legitimate Windows application. This fake advertises aggressively to the user, informing them that the security of their PC is at risk due to spyware and parasites that supposedly exist. This is simply a ruse to get the user to believe the alerts, so that they will spend their money on the full version of the product in order to get rid of the infections.
Malicious programs like these usually install using trojans, and can be contracted in various ways. Music and video downloads, malicious websites and spam emails are all common places that AVSystemCare may install on your computer, and this is done without your permission or knowledge. You will realize that spyware has been placed on your PC when you begin noticing the symptoms, which will happen fairly quickly.
Common symptoms are a slowing of your computer, constant pop-up ads and security warnings, and often a changed home page. Your browser may redirect you to sites advertising the rogue security program as well, in a continuing effort to get you to purchase it. Applications like these use a tremendous amount of system resources and memory, and often disable files that are necessary for your PC to work right. This is why you may see a decrease in performance.
AVSystemCare may also track your activities, and collect information such as personal passwords, search queries and other business data. This information is often sold to third parties, who will then send ads and spam emails to you that are related to your interests. Spyware can actually cause serious damage to your PC, and should be removed immediately once it has been detected.
You may consider removing AVSystemCare manually, but this is not recommended. When not done precisely, it puts your computer in danger of severe damage. To remove malicious programs automatically, use a reliable antispyware tool that will scan your PC for infections and remove every last trace, restoring security.
