Don’t Trust Ultimatesecuritysuite

Written by OSAblog on Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Many people today are superstitious about having people spy on their browsing activities, and rightly so. Spyware that infiltrates your system and steals your information is a dime a dozen these days. The situation gets even worse when you have applications like ultimatesecuritysuite that pretend to be programs that help alleviate this problem when in actuality, they are the thieves themselves.

Ultimatesecuritysuite’s gimmick is that is claims to be software that will allow you to browse anonymously by blocking your IP address from your host server. While it does, indeed, do this, it doesn’t tell you that it actually tracks your activity itself and then sells that information off to interested third parties. It also does a whole host of other things that are not nearly as above board or helpful.

You see, while ultimatesecuritysuite claims to be security software that will protect your computer and let your browse anonymously, it is actually a rogue antispyware under a fancy cloak. The program is bundled with enough spyware to send any computer to the landfill, and too often, the affected user doesn’t realize this until it is too late.

Like all rogue antispyware, ultimatesecuritysuite will run a series of fake scans and then generate a list of equally fake results claiming that it has found numerous threats residing on your machine. It then proceeds to convince you that buying its full version is the only way that you can get these threats removed and avoid total computer failure. It bombards you with pop ups and fake system alerts to add credibility, and subsequently slows your machine to a crawl.

It also opens a security hole in your browser through which it can shuttle off information it has gathered about you and download more adware and spyware on to your machine. It stays connected to the Internet at all times to do this, and stays resident in the background hogging resources all the while.

Clearly, if you have found ultimatesecuritysuite on your computer, or worse, fell for its scam, you would be wise to take the steps needed to remove it immediately. You can do this manually by blocking sites, killing its running processes, unregistering its DLLs and deleting its associated files and registry values. You should use caution trying this method as the accidental deletion of the wrong file could leave you far worse off than before. Also, be aware that if you miss any of ultimatesecuritysuite’s files during your search, the program will simply reinstall itself upon reboot.

You can remove ultimatesecuritysuite automatically, as well as ensure protection against all future threats by finding yourself a legitimate, high quality antispyware program. You should take measures to ensure that you are not simply getting scammed again by looking for legitimacy markers such as memberships with reputable organizations like the Better Business Bureau. You should also make sure that the program you choose guarantees removal of 100% of any malicious threat you may face, or you’ll simply be wasting your time and money. Don’t risk ruining your computer and possible your identity by messing around with programs like ultimatesecuritysuite, get real protection today!
