Dr AntiSpy: A Rogue Security Tool
Dr AntiSpy is a rogue security program that is a clone of PestTrap and SpySheriff. This parasite will display pop-up security alerts that look like Microsoft notifications, informing the user that security threat exist on their PC. Like most other fake antispyware programs, this one is designed by hackers to lure people into purchasing the product in order to remove these threats.
Unbeknownst to the user, Dr AntiSpy can be installed on their PC from a variety of sources. Freeware, videos, games and music are often the source, as well as links in spam emails and questionable websites. The user is not aware that anything potentially dangerous is being installed, as the files hide in the background undetected. Soon after, you will begin to see symptoms that alert you to a problem.
The biggest sign of malware such as this is incessant pop-up ads and security alerts. You will most likely be aware that your PC is running slowly and just isn’t performing properly. Your browser may redirect, and your home page may change. Dr AntiSpy causes computer to run slowly because it eats up system resources and memory. These applications have the ability to collect information about your online activities as well as personal passwords and private business data.
Rogue security programs display a security alert to the user, and then offer to scan their PC for free. Once the user falls for this ploy, the results shown are fabricated. Dr AntiSpy informs the user that threats are so severe that they should purchase the fully licensed version of the product in order to remove all threats and parasites. This program cannot detect or remove anything at all.
When you become suspicious that malware has been placed on your PC, you may be tempted to remove it manually in order to save money. This is a difficult task that is not advised, because doing so incorrectly can cause severe damage to your computer. Your best action is to use a reputable antispyware tool that guarantees 100% removal, so that security is completely restored once again!
