ExtraAntivirus Provides No Extras Other Than Trouble
ExtraAntivirus is rogue security software that’s main purpose is to frighten users in to purchasing their bogus product. Many of these rogues exist, and they all work pretty much the same way. Innocent users may be conned in to believing that severe security threats are lurking on their PC, and that they should download the free scan offered to remedy the situation.
This program displays messages to the user through pop-up windows. These alerts will inform you that there are infections and security threats residing on your computer that must be removed. Once you click to download the program, it will run a fake scan. The results will always be that infections are so severe that you must purchase the full version in order to remove the threats and restore security.
These messages are a total scam. ExtraAntivirus is not capable of scanning your PC, nor can it detect or remove infections, worms, or any other threats that may or may not exist. If you do download this application, all that will happen is that additional malware will likely install on your computer. Avoid this if at all possible. Once you start seeing symptoms that rogue security software is on your PC, you should remove it immediately.
ExtraAntivirus frequently installs through trojan viruses that reside on malicious websites. Malware is often installed without your knowledge from sources such as free downloads like freeware, online computer games, music, and messaging programs. Will you know if it exists on your PC? When you start seeing some of the symptoms, you will no doubt know there is a problem.
Some things that commonly occur when malicious software is on your computer are incessant and annoying pop-up ads. You will also probably notice that your computer has become much slower, or that your browser redirects to unintended websites. Sometimes your homepage may be changed, or you will notice new or flashing icons in your system tray. When these things start happening, remove ExtraAntivirus at once to avoid additional threats and problems.
Rogue antispyware has the capability of collecting information about you and your online habits. Most of these programs gather information about the searches you perform, and the websites you visit. Many will also attempt to gain access to your passwords, credit card numbers and other private information that may actually put your personal identity at risk. While manual removal of ExtraAntivirus may be possible, it should not be attempted unless you are an expert at these processes.
When you believe malicious applications like this one reside on your PC, get a reliable antispyware tool immediately. A good one will scan your computer and remove 100% of threats, infections, worms and other parasites. Once removed, it will protect your system and personal identity from further threats and damage, completely restoring security.
