Fix Tool Won’t Fix a Thing!

Written by OSAblog on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Fix Tool is a bogus registry cleaner software that claims it will remove infections, rogue security software and other threats that reside on your computer. While there are many authentic spyware removal products available, this is not one of them. If you begin getting messages stating that your computer is infected and you need to download this application in order to restore security, do not do it!

Often, malicious software like this installs on your PC when you visit the actual site, Fix-Tool.com. It may also be placed on your computer through trojans at other questionable websites you visit. The purpose of programs like Fix Tool is to con the user into purchasing their useless product. In the process, these applications can place malware on your PC, so you must get a reliable product to remove threats. Letting them remain on your computer will cause more and more damage as time passes by.

What will happen if this software is placed on your computer? More than likely you will get bombarded with popup alerts stating that all kinds of dangers exist on your PC. You will then get invited to download the free scan in order to detect and remove these threats. Once done, the user will be told that infections are so numerous that you must purchase the full product in order to restore security to your computer. Fix Tool can neither detect nor remove anything from your PC. The messages you receive are totally fabricated.

Some of the symptoms you will notice if your computer becomes infected are a slowing of your PC. You will also probably experience incessant annoying pop-up ads, a changed homepage or new desktop short cuts that didn’t exist before. Your settings may be changed so that your browser redirects when trying to visit a website. Applications such as this one should be removed promptly, as they can pose a serious danger to your computer as well as your personal identity.

Most rogue security software has the ability to track your activities while you are online. They can collect information about the websites you visit, searches performed, and even get hold of your passwords and credit card numbers. This is definitely something you want to avoid, so take action immediately if you believe a rogue application like this exists on your computer.

Can these programs be removed manually? Good question. While most can, it is not recommended. Only an expert should attempt this, as every single related file must be deleted to insure security is restored. This is difficult for most users, because these files hide from you and are very difficult to detect. Your best course of action is to use a legitimate antispyware tool.

An authentic program will scan your system for worms, trojans, infections and other threats. Once detected, it will remove the parasites and restore security to your computer and personal information. Get a product that guarantees to remove 100% of infections with one scan, and you can rest at ease.
