HomeAntivirus2009 – Don’t Waste Your Money

Written by OSAblog on Saturday, June 13th, 2009

HomeAntivirus2009 is a program disguised as a security application that supposedly scans your PC for threats and infections in order to remove them. This tool is a rogue, and should be avoided. Like most others, this fake is incapable of detecting security threats, worms, parasites and other infections. It is developed by hackers for the purpose of convincing users into spending their money.

This bogus security application originated in Russia, and is highly dangerous. When you believe it is installed on your computer you should remove it immediately to avoid further possible damage. HomeAntivirus2009, like most others, can track your activities when you are browsing. It can also gain access to private information like passwords and credit card numbers. If the user is conned into believing the security alert warnings and does download and purchase the product, additional malware will be installed which only means further damage.

For those not familiar with rogue antispyware, here is a description of what to look for. If you begin getting bombarded by pop-up ads that warn you of security problems, you more than likely have a problem. These messages will invite you to download the free scan in order to detect and remove infections. If you do this, you will then be informed that infections are so severe that you should purchase the fully licensed product in order to have security restored to your PC.

HomeAntivirus2009 absolutely cannot detect infections or security threats on your computer. These messages are totally made up for the sole purpose of tricking the user into purchasing the product. It cannot remove anything at all, and should be avoided at all costs. If it resides on your computer, you will notice a slow PC performance, and possibly a changed home page. Other symptoms include a redirection of your browser to strange websites and new shortcuts on your desktop.

Like most other fake antispyware applications, this one usually installs through a Trojan horse program. It may come from questionable websites that are visited, free downloads such as freeware or shareware, or you may get it from the site itself. Spam emails also often contain attachments that carry dangerous programs, and usually the user is totally unaware that anything bad is getting installed on their PC.

Should you remove HomeAntivirus2009 manually? This action is not advised for most people. Only an expert can perform this complex process, as all related files must be deleted and running processes killed. If not done correctly, manual removal will cause additional damage to your computer.

If you suspect that rogue security software is on your PC, get a reliable antispyware product to remove it promptly. Security threats will be detected and removed, making your computer safe again. It is advisable to get an application that guarantees 100% removal of infections, Trojans, worms and other parasites with just one scan.
