Is GeneralAntivirus a Reliable Removal Tool?

Written by OSAblog on Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

When you have spyware on your pc, you know it should be removed immediately. However, there are many rogue applications that claim they will perform this task, but really just take your money. GeneralAntivirus is one such fake. It will assure the user that by downloading the product, complete security will be restored. This is not true, so don’t fall for it. Evil people create malicious software for the purpose of stealing your money.

GeneralAntivirus will display numerous messages to users through pop-up windows. These messages will inform the user that security threats and infections are present on their pc. This is a ploy to frighten you in to believing that you must download their program to scan your computer and restore security. Once scanned, they will alert you that the infections are so numerous that you must purchase the full version of the product in order to remove all of the threats present.

The ironic thing about these applications is that they are in themselves a virus that must be removed. Rogue antispyware software cannot detect any dangerous threats or infections on your pc. They do not scan your computer as they declare, they simply display false results. They have no ability to detect or remove any type of virus or parasite from your pc, and the results they show are the same for millions of other computer users. Can GeneralAntivirus pose a danger to your computer? Absolutely – it must be removed.

This application can install other malicious software on your pc without your knowledge or permission. Many of these programs will collect information about you and your browsing habits. The searches you perform, websites you visit, even personal information like passwords and credit card numbers can be accessed by these programs. Often, this information may be sold to third parties.

Can you remove this application yourself? It is possible, but definitely not recommended. Only a professional should attempt this, because one misstep may cause irreversible damage to your computer. When attempting manual removal, all files associated with this software must be removed. The problem that arises is that many of these files may be hidden from you. This means that upon reboot of your pc, GeneralAntivirus returns.

Realistically, an authentic antispyware removal tool is needed for removal of this rogue. A reliable product will scan your computer for security threats, infections and other parasites. Once detected, it will remove them and restore security to your computer and personal information. Even many legitimate products cannot perform this task efficiently, as they aren’t technologically advanced enough to remove all parasites.

For total removal of GeneralAntivirus or other dangerous applications, you need a legitimate antispyware tool that guarantees removal of 100% of parasites and infections. Look for markers such as awards from independent reviewers and money back if you’re not completely satisfied.
