Protect Your Computer from XL Guarder

Written by OSAblog on Sunday, July 19th, 2009

When it comes to computer security, you need to make sure that you have a reliable antispyware program. If you don’t, then your computer could become infected by XL Guarder or some other form of malware. These rogues aren’t just a threat to your computer’s health, but to your finances as well. Be careful and more importantly, properly protect your computer today.

XL Guarder is a rogue security application that goes by a few different names such as XLife Guarder and XLG Security Center. Though it may look like a legitimate security program, there is no information on the company that makes it and all the pages where you can buy it are insecure. There are many promises made that claim this rogue will clear away infectious software from your computer. These promises, however, are nothing but lies.

Though XL Guarder can be manually downloaded, it is far more common for a Trojan like Zlob to secretly download it. The user will then be harassed with phony security warnings and pop-ups. This malware will constantly attempt to perform a fake scan that will yield fake results. The fraudulent results will be used to scare the infected user into buying the full version of this rogue.

The full version of XL Guarder is completely useless and a waste of money. It doesn’t offer any protection whatsoever and it will not remove any infectious program either. Instead of being beneficial, this program will slow down both the Internet connection and the computer’s performance. It may also alter browser security setting and could possibly download other malware, furthering the reduction in computer performance.

If your computer has been infected by this rogue software, you should have it removed immediately. You should get a quality antispyware application so that you don’t have to go through the trouble of removing it manually and so that your computer will have protection in the future. However, there are some things you should keep in mind when shopping for an antispyware application.

Before you buy an antispyware program, you should make sure that it has been guaranteed to remove 100% of spyware. You don’t want something that will only remove a portion of threats. You should also make sure that the company that makes the software is a member of the Better Business Bureau. If the program can live up to these standards, then you can bet that your computer will be properly protected.
