What Files Will a Registry Cleaner Remove?

Written by OSAblog on Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Have you ever been working on something important, only to have your computer crash leaving you with nothing but a blue screen? Or perhaps, when you try to run a program, play computer games, surf the internet, or run software your system freezes completely!

Perhaps you have to reboot your computer before one of your programs will work correctly or your computer runs extremely slowly. Maybe you are preparing to replace your current device in favor of a new computer because of the above problems?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, it is likely that you require a registry cleaner.

In this article we will explain what a registry cleaner is but also answer the question “what kind of files will a registry cleaner remove?” If your computer uses Microsoft Windows as an operating system, then it will have a registry, and that registry helps the operating system run smoothly and efficiently.

The operating system uses the registry as a storage facility for certain types of data and information and whilst running it may call on that stored information. The simple fact is, the more you use your computer the more information and data will become stored within your registry.

As a crucial part of the Windows operating system your computer would be unable to run Windows without a registry. Over any period of time the registry can become cluttered with information and data no longer relevant. When you remove or delete hardware or software the related data stored in the registry is also removed, unfortunately there will often be some small amount of data or information that remains in the registry.

These files take up valuable space in your registry for no purpose, and when the computer requires something from the registry, it will be forced to search through all the data stored within the registry whether it is still relevant or not. It is often this unnecessary and irrelevant additional data that causes the computer to crash or freeze whilst looking for the items it needs.

You can return your computer to its optimum performance simply by finding a good registry cleaner; the software will scan your registry and properly remove items that should no longer be there. It will also ensure the retained data is stored in order and no longer spread out, in this way Windows can more efficiently find the data it requires. This in turn will help restore the speed of your computer.

What kind of files does the registry cleaner remove?

Now that you are a little more familiar with the function of a register and how it can become problematic; the following are specific file and data types that a registry cleaner will remove:

Start menu items of programs that have been deleted Orphaned links Outdated and unnecessary system files Corrupted files Redundant data Missing DLL files

If you experience any of the problems described in this article then your computer performance could probably be enhanced by downloading a good registry cleaner. Remove all unnecessary files and data from your registry and your computer should run smoother and faster, this should also return it to new computer capability.
